on board the commuter, and when you arrive at the GCS go straight to Andromeda s.
What? Where? Her mind was still on the momentous realization that Krys would risk capture to ensure her safety.
Maybe he did feel their connection.
Where I took you shopping.
Oh, yes. Her mind couldn t grasp why would Krys risk so much for her, if he didn t want to be with her. He made
little sense.
Find a white-haired woman named Laila Naciq. She will bring you to us. It's really as simple as that.
He d explained this woman would find her an alternative means back to Lyask if something should go wrong. She
couldn t shake the feeling that something would go wrong. What if your plan doesn t work?
It will.
But... Even if nothing went wrong, by revealing themselves these two would increase the odds they would be
captured in the future. She didn t like the idea. There has to be some other way. You don t need to put yourself at risk
this way.
Dena, are you paying attention to me? He waited until she nodded. I swear you have nothing to worry about.
Except how I d manage to rescue both of you.
Never happen!
Dena sighed. Such arrogance. What if he was wrong?
There are plenty of other dangers on Vertor. Krys began to list off many of the tricks unsavory people would use
against her. She wanted to remind him that she wasn t a child, but the truth was, now that it was getting close to that
time she would be alone, she was missing him already. If anyone approaches, tell them to piss off. Trust no one but
Laila.
Not even the Tahn Rorian?

Definitely not! If he doesn t follow your direction, your safety is more important. Go to Laila, even if it means
deserting the Tahn Rorian.
He embraced her then, kissing her very softly on the lips and then forehead. See you soon, Dena.
As he started to walk away, she stopped him. Darian, I--
You can call me by my given name.
Krys. I really am sorry that I called you a toad. I m not just saying that because Jaret wanted me to apologize.
But not zookaburra? He smiled at her. She shook her head. You can call me that anytime you want, so long as
you re letting me ... make you dizzy with sweet feelings.
Before she could reply, he was gone.
Alone for the first time since she had left Lyask, everything she had to be worried about hit her full force. There was
so much left unsaid. Even if Krys admitted who he was, he hadn t admitted being part of her.
She had accepted that bringing him into her life was related to why she wouldn t be returning to Lyask to rule. If he
was willing, perhaps her people would accept him as her husband. After all, she was bound to him by tradition. But he
hadn t admitted to anything but wanting to join physically with her. As for an emotional connection, wanting to keep
her safe just wasn t the same thing. He was so confusing.
She smiled. He really was a pest to torment her about wanting to make her dizzy with the sweet feelings. She didn t
mind at all last night that at first he d been soft and gentle, then hard and relentless. Truthfully, that confusion suited
her just fine.
Dena wandered around the city, looking at the different stores. In one of them she found a clear sphere with a tiny
replica of New Saturn hovering in the center. When she shook it, a miniature Vertor wobbled around the planet, and
tiny flecks of silver began to swirl. Completely captivated by the magic of the trinket, she brought it to a saleswoman.
These snow globes are a real popular item. The woman stated as she wrapped the sphere carefully and placed it in a
crinkly bag. Are you visiting long?
Piss off. Dena stated with a polite smile and left the gap-mouthed woman alone in her store.
Chapter Eleven
The next part of their plan went better than they d hoped. Krys and Jaret found two unsuspecting guards and rendered
them unconscious. Jaret had found a computer terminal and easily found the prisoner s location. The Tahn Rorian was
about to be transferred to another area of the prison, so all Jaret had to do was reassign the duty to themselves.
The only problem was the Tahn Rorian was uncooperative, and they couldn t exactly explain what they were doing.
Dressed as guards, Krys and Jaret marched through the detention center, the reluctant prisoner in between them. No
one gave them a second glance. Krys was bothered by how easily he had fallen into the rhythm, mannerisms, and the
lilt of Vertor s dialect. But that was to their benefit. He was acting a part; his past life no longer defined him.
Or did it? After today, he would no longer be able to hide behind the alias Darian. From today forward, he would be
Krys Bazluhr. There would be no escaping his past.
A pang of guilt hit, reminding him that he wasn t giving his partner the opportunity to make this choice himself. He
was bringing Jaret McDiarmid to life, too.

Starlit Destiny
At the earliest opportunity, he needed to return Dena to Lyask. His actions today would ensure that the Command
would search for them with a vengeance. Dena was in danger as long as she remained with them.
