dumb question. She sat up and began loading the uneaten
food into a basket.
Michael shook the blanket out and folded it. He looked
across the field of wildflowers and stared for a moment.
 What? Jessica asked.
Michael pointed.  Look.
Jessica smiled when she realized what he was looking at,
then went back to cleaning up.
 Anneliese, it s time to go, Michael yelled.
Anneliese looked up. Peering through long golden locks,
her bright blue eyes met Michael s.  Look, Daddy. She
smiled as she held up one fist full of yellow flowers and the
other full of purple flowers. Navigating the high grass was
hard for her short legs, but she managed to reach Michael
without falling.  I picked the yellow flowers for you Daddy
and the purple flowers for Mommy.
Michael took the bouquet of flowers and kissed his
daughter. He watched Anneliese walk over to her mommy
and present her with the bouquet. Jessica squatted down and

took her daughter in her arms. She then pulled away and
began tickling her. They rolled around in the grass laughing
and tickling each other. Michael smiled; they were his two
girls. They were his life.
